2012 Malpelo DXpedition Extended
The HK0NA DXpedition to Malpelo (http://hk0na NULL.com/) – an island located approximately 235 miles from Columbia’s Pacific coast — is scheduled for early 2012. Organized by the DX Radio Amateur Club (DXARC (http://dxarc NULL.org/)) out of Columbia, the DXpedition boasts an international team of 16 operators from eight countries. According to DXpedition leader Jorge Prieto, HK1R it is highly unlikely that the various Colombian authorities will permit another DXpedition to Malpelo anytime soon. With this in mind, he said that the dates of the DXpedition will be extended by two to three days from the previous 12-14 day plan.The approximate dates of operations will be January 21-February 5/6, 2012

Radio Amateurs have received signals from Mars Science Laboratory
Radio Amateurs have received signals from the NASA Mars Science Laboratory using the AMSAT-DL amateur radio facility at Bochum in Germany.
On November 26, 2011 at 15:02 UTC the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) successfully launched on an Atlas V 541 from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Space Launch Complex 41. It is carrying Curiosity, a 900-pound rover about the size of a small car.
It is expected to arrive at the “Red Planet” in August 2012 after a nine month flight.
